Takeaways: My first Notion meetup in DC signals growing demand for productivity communities
Plus: The details for my next Notion DC event, and a features request form for my April Notion template!
For the first time in DC, professionals gathered not because they shared the same company of employment, not because they were (at least, initially) friends, or for any other typical DC reason.
For the first (official) time, an intimate group of professionals gathered to discuss Notion, the productivity software. At a bright and airy coffee shop downtown, the group and I shared our different Notion systems and approaches, laughed about our past Notion mistakes, and started looking at Notion’s latest features, including its new mail application, Notion Mail.

By the numbers:
7 attendees
1 cozy coffee shop
Multiple laptops and coffees
Too many Notion stickers to count
Key insights from my first gathering:
Most wanted: life organization and Notion AI
Biggest challenge: Maintaining consistent productivity systems
Hot feature: Database linking capabilities (relations + rollups!)
As a Notion Ambassador, I’m proud to start building the Notion DC community. Every conversation I had strengthened my hypothesis that there is a clear demand for Notion conversations in the city. And I hope that anybody who wants to be part of this effort will feel welcome to join.
🎙️Look out for a new “Mindful Morsels” podcast episode this weekend where me and a participant from the first event break down our takeaways and uses of Notion even further. I hope to make this type of post-gathering episode a recurring feature!

Accepting features request for my April Notion template!
My next Notion template is titled “Tracking professional and personal reading.” I want input on what features would be useful FOR YOU to include! Whether that’s automated reading logs, visual reading progress charts, or something completely different, let me know before April.
